As we continue with the busy month of March, planning is underway for the celebration of Holi at the March 22nd Community Meeting and for the afternoon playground activity.
This past Monday lower school students demonstrated their unique dances that they created, iterated, practiced and performed during the community meeting. The goal was to create a dance with others that showed the school values (be kind, be respectful, and be proud) and used a song with an 8 beat count that was remixed from the AVS song by our Music Teacher Danny Clay. While this is not the typical Engineering Challenge, students and teachers had so much fun with this project. Check out their dances here.
During a recent community meeting, fifth grade teacher Tina Amir-Ghasemi and her students presented a beautiful Women's History tribute to the inspiring women in our community. There wasn't a dry eye in the room after watching the video that Tina produced using submissions of video clips and photos of accomplishments and proud moments from fifth grade students, mothers, and teachers and staff across the school.
AVS Yearbook season is here! Each AVS student and staff member will receive one complimentary 2023-24 AVS Yearbook from the school. These yearbooks will be distributed in person at school in early June. No action is required on your part; the school will automatically order one yearbook for each student.
This year, AVS Middle School started a MATHCOUNTS club where students hone their problem-solving skills.
Join us the first Monday of the month through June 2024 to help keep the Portola neighborhood clean. Open to any AVS parent, kiddos (nearby family and friends).
