A Community of Giving

In 2010, a group of dedicated parents, faculty, and administrators founded Alta Vista School. By working together to maximize resources and their talent, Alta Vista has grown and in 2018, graduated its first class.

Today, Alta Vista’s students thrive as creative thinkers, innovators, and catalysts for positive change in the world at our two campuses. Our community continues to come together each year to generously support and grow the unique learning environment that makes our school special. Charitable contributions from parents, friends, and staff allow Alta Vista to continue to grow and provide the very best programs

for our children. When you make a contribution of any size to AVS, you are joining a community of parents and friends who help ensure that we can provide each child with an extraordinary educational experience.

Please visit the Annual Fund page for more information about those programs. You may also contact the Development Office with any questions.

Annual Fund 2020-2021

Your Annual Fund gift supports every aspect of the AVS experience. It provides opportunities for learning and discovery, as well as the ability to be responsive to emerging opportunities and challenges. It allows AVS to be an extraordinary place

of education, collaboration, and innovation for students today and in years to come. Your gift helps provide training and professional development for our faculty, offer new experiences and resources in the classroom, and meet the changing ways we offer instruction.

This school year looks and feels different from any previous year. What is the same

is the dedication of our faculty to providing an excellent AVS education to every student. Under our changing circumstances, we continue our priority to acquire the additional resources necessary to adapt to our community’s needs and our county’s health advisory guidelines. We look to support the costs of the numerous unplanned increases to our traditional budget due to the impact of Covid-19. Our increase in school sponsored digital tools, both hardware and software platforms, and teacher training are necessary to execute effective programs. To support the return to in-person instruction, health advisory guidelines require the additional procurement of individualized classroom furniture, the transformation of spaces to create additional classrooms to support the required physical spacing, PPE equipment for personal and community protection, additional staffing and janitorial needs, and SF Health Department mandated COVID testing throughout the school year for our AVS faculty. We also want to offer flexibility to our families by providing virtual instruction throughout the year.

Please make Alta Vista School and our students’ education your charitable priority. Whatever the size of your gift, you make a difference in the lives of our students, teachers, faculty, and our community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Yukiko Meadows, our Director of Development, at development@altavistaschoolsf.org.

Capital Campaign

A Capital Campaign is a springboard to Increase the impact Alta Vista School has on its students and community. (Unlike the Annual Fund, these campaigns are launched only when there are capital projects and can encompass several years.)

Capital projects address the fact that exceptional teaching must take place with excellent tools, including classrooms that accommodate the latest technology and space to climb, play, learn, and gather. These projects are the foundation for a sustainable future.
