Building community

AVS Middle School students recognize that they are part of a culturally diverse community of the Mission district of San Francisco.

Every day students interact with the community, as they walk to have lunch at Mission Park and attend PE classes in Coronado Park.

Several times a year, students contribute their energy and enthusiasm to service projects around the city.  Whether it is volunteering at the SF-Marin Food Bank, serving meals at GLIDE, running a clothing drive for the Dolores Street Community Services, or doing a neighborhood trash clean up, middle school students thoroughly embrace our school’s mission of educating students to be catalysts for positive change in the world.
