The Week Ahead: August 21

Dear AVS Parents:

All summer, I have been looking forward to the start of school. The energy from students, parents, and faculty during this first week, if captured, could power a small city. What a special time of year! For me, what makes it even more exciting, is knowing that once routines are established, and the actual course work begins, the excitement and energy of school will surge even higher.

Our opening day of school purposefully coincides with the "great" solar eclipse. Monday's school activities will celebrate this celestial event with many faculty and student driven activities designed to help us (safely) view and understand how and why this is happening. It is going to be such a wonderful way to start off a year of academic explorations.

Every week (after Labor Day), a Week Ahead note will go out with a calendar of upcoming events, and a link to each class through our website. Please make sure to take a look at the dates listed below, and to mark your calendar so as not to miss any important and fun events.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday, and to the start of another year at AVS.
