Dancing at AVS Middle School

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

by Carlos Aguayo, PE Teacher

Middle School students at AVS have been dancing in PE!

The dance unit consisted of popular line dances such as the Electric Slide, the Wobble, the Hustle, the Macarena, and Uptown Funk. Students worked in small groups and were required to truly learn their assigned dance and then teach it to a group of two to three students.

After they spent time learning and practicing their dance, each group performed in front of their peers. Students benefited from peer teaching during this unit because they developed skills in organizing and planning, worked collaboratively with others, gave and received feedback, and evaluated their own learning. They had a lot of fun dancing the day away!
